Submissions now available for That Thing You Do Year 4

Details About Publication
We will publish a perfect-bound trade book (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches) with a professionally designed cover to be available for purchase by Thanksgiving. An Editorial Board will evaluate each submission. Those containing
graphic sex or violence will be rejected outright. All other works will be considered for publication. Submitting a work does not guarantee that it will be published. The Editorial Board reserves
the right to edit submissions.

Rules:
Eligibility: Participation is open to anyone who is a member of Bay Area Writers League (B.A.W.L.) by
November 1, 2008. Membership fee is $25.00 per person, $30.00 per family per calendar year.

Submission deadline: The deadlines for submissions is October 15. If sent by mail, this is the postmark date. If sent by e-mail, it must have a timestamp before 11:59 PM on October 15.
The author retains all rights to work, but will need to sign a contract before publication granting B.A.W.L.
the right to use the work in That Thing You Do - Year 4. There is no reading fee, and each author whose work is included in the volume will be paid $5 and one copy of the book.

What We Are Looking For
We would like original works of poetry (no line limit) and personal essays and fiction prose (3,000 word limit). There is no theme; however, writers should be aware that no political works or works with graphic sex or violence will be accepted. Submissions may include, but are not limited to: essays on life, love and art, memoirs, true stories about lifealtering experiences, science fiction, romance, mystery and suspense, and humor. Short works of fiction, non-fiction, or poetry for children will also be considered.

Submitting
All submissions must be the original works of the author and previously unpublished in a major market (publication on personal websites and school/college publication will not be counted against the piece). All works must be mailed by the deadline. Any work received postmarked after that date will be returned
unopened or deleted unopened.

Submissions must be presented in industry standard format: One-inch margins, black ink, double spaced, Courier New or Times New Roman with header including title and author’s name in top left and page number in top right. Manuscripts must not be stapled or bound. Any works submitted in a different format
will be rejected outright. No handwritten submissions will be accepted.

Electronic submissions must be in Microsoft Word (as a .DOC file extension) or RTF (Rich/Revisable Text Format--as an .RTF file extension) document. NO other file formats are acceptable.
